Branch Manager

Job Purpose:

Responsible for driving business growth, managing credit and daily branch operations, and leading the branch team in compliance with bank policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead branch staff to uphold regulatory and business standards.
  • Oversee staff performance, foster a high-performance culture, and ensure adherence to controls, risk policies, and procedures.
  • Address audit issues promptly, safeguard branch assets, and ensure all branch operations align with policies and goals.
  • Conduct financial analysis to manage revenue, costs, and profitability.
  • Drive sales and marketing of bank products, increase CASA activations, and source cost-effective deposits.
  • Generate operational and financial reports on a regular basis.
Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field; banking or CPA (K) qualifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of Islamic banking products and services.
  • Minimum 6 years’ branch management experience in banking with proven success.
  • Familiarity with the Banking Act, CBK procedures, and banking regulations.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and compliance skills.

Operations Officers

Job Purpose:

To deputize the branch manager in overall branch leadership, ensuring adherence to proper processes, procedures, and controls. Support and ensure provision of excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with KYC, AML, and bank policies, including Business Continuity Plan (BCP) implementation.
  • Oversee branch opening and closing procedures, cleanliness, and product policy adherence.
  • Coordinate with teams for efficient customer service and transaction approval.
  • Manage risks by adhering to operational, security, and control standards to prevent fraud.
  • Support cost management, timely reporting, and maintain a satisfactory audit rating.
  • Act as vault custodian, ensuring daily cash balance accuracy.
Skills and Experience:
  • University degree (business-related degree preferred).
  • Professional banking qualifications (AKIB) or accounting credentials advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in banking, with strong exposure to branch operations and processes.
  • Good understanding of core banking systems.
  • Proven record of meeting customer expectations and exceeding targets.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic sales ability within accounts.

Legal and Data Protection Manager

Job Purpose:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the Bank's operations are fully compliant with Sharia principles, banking regulations, and data protection laws.
  • Develop, review, and implement legal and compliance policies and frameworks.
  • Advise the Bank on legal and regulatory matters, including data protection and privacy laws.
  • Oversee legal contracts, agreements, and documentation to safeguard the Bank's interests.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory and Sharia compliance environments and provide strategic guidance.
  • Handle legal disputes and liaise with external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Act as the Bank's Data Protection Officer, ensuring adherence to data privacy laws and best practices.
  • Provide training and awareness programs on legal and compliance matters.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized institution.
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
  • Certification in Data Protection and Data protection laws or related compliance fields is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in legal and compliance roles within a financial institution, with at least 2 years in an Islamic banking environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Sharia principles in banking and financial services.
  • Proven experience in managing data protection and privacy frameworks.
Skills and Experience:
  • Excellent understanding of regulatory and legal frameworks governing banking and data protection.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide sound legal advice.
  • Ethical, with high levels of integrity and professionalism.
